The Door County YMCA is a partner for the event, and helps with recruiting the COURSE VOLUNTEERS. To support the YMCA AND TRIATHLON, please help us fill the COURSE VOLUNTEER positions. You can also contact Annette Varnes or Brett Cleveland with any questions - avarnes@doorcountyymca.org and bcleveland@doorcountyymca.org EVENT DETAILS: Sprint: 1/4 mile swim, 18 mile bike, 3.1 mile run (Saturday, July 12th) Half Iron: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run (Sunday, July 13th) VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: COURSE VOLUNTEER - RUN (SPRINT) (Saturday, July 12th) Ensure that participants safely turn around an orange barrel at the halfway point of the running event and transition safely going out and coming into Murphy Park. COURSE VOLUNTEER - BIKE (SPRINT) (Saturday, July 12th) Monitor an intersection to prevent collisions between participants and between participants and vehicles. Ensure that participants go the correct way. ** Turnaround: George K. Pinney County Park - Ensure the safe turnaround of bike course participants on Bay Shore Drive (County B) at George K. Pinney County Park. Local police will stop motorists. Senior Health & Wellness Day is all about promoting healthy choices, active living, and overall well-being for the seniors in our community—and we need your help to bring it to life. Why Volunteer? This is a fantastic opportunity to show your support for the YMCA and the vibrant senior community we serve. You'll meet local partners, explore wellness resources, and be part of a fun, inspiring day filled with learning and connection. On-site professional health screenings, engaging stations, and great conversation are just a few highlights! Volunteers Needed for Summer Foods! The YMCA is seeking volunteers to help prepare and distribute free meals to children across Door County and Algoma, Monday through Friday this summer. Meal counts can range from 800 to 1,500 depending on the day and programs running. We partner with local churches, schools, parks, and YMCA camps to ensure no child goes hungry when school is out. Volunteers will assist with meal preparation and assembly at the Door County YMCA - Sturgeon Bay Program Center. Flexible shifts are available, and we can work with your schedule. Join us in serving meals across the region—our mission relies on your support!

Passionate about working with kids? Join us in creating a positive, safe, and fun after school environment! We're looking for volunteers to help guide and engage youth in productive activities. As a volunteer, you'll support students, encourage positive behavior, and ensure the facility runs smoothly – think of it as being a friendly, supportive presence (like a high school hall monitor, but way more fun!). Time commitment: Monday through Thursday shifts available, 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Come make a difference after school!

The Friends of Peterson Park is an all-volunteer group dedicated to the preservation, sustainability and enhancement of the Peterson Park Gardens. The park committee will meet monthly except to plan and direct the group’s activities in cooperation with Parks staff. Interested individuals are welcome to attend these meetings as well. During the growing season, volunteers under the guidance of Park staff tend the Gardens, planting, weeding, pruning and updating the beds, shrubs and other features. They also work hard to help keep invasive plant species at bay. While some of the volunteers are Master Gardeners, anyone who enjoys the company of fellow gardeners and who is willing to perform these tasks following the Parks’ plan is welcome and encouraged to join the volunteers. Friends of Peterson Park Volunteers are needed to keep the Park looking clean and beautiful. These are just a few of the activities volunteers perform in the Park: * Weeding, mulching and beautifying plant beds, wild flower gardens, and front entrance * Removing invasive plants species * Cleaning restrooms and manage litter * Empty Trash & Dog Stations * Give Tours of Park and Garden to interested community members * Other projects as assigned by Staff / Lead Volunteers Working as a volunteer to clean up and beautifying a local park is a healthy way to sneak in some exercise, fresh air, and goodwill while also building lasting friendships.

As a water slide volunteer, you'll be responsible for guiding guests as they take the plunge! You'll work closely with a lifeguard at the bottom of the slide to ensure safety and smooth operation. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Important Details: • Arrive 10 minutes early to receive instructions and get prepared for your shift. • Dress comfortably in a t-shirt or tank top and shorts, and be ready to go barefoot or wear sandals. • Stay hydrated! Bring a water bottle to keep your energy up throughout your shift.
