The Door County YMCA is proud to support the Door County Triathlon by helping recruit and organize COURSE VOLUNTEERS—an essential part of making race day safe, smooth, and successful for every participant. While our role is focused on volunteers, the impact reaches much further. Events like the triathlon help raise funds that are reinvested right here in the Door County community, including support for local programs like those offered through the YMCA. From youth development to health and wellness initiatives, these funds help ensure that more individuals and families have access to opportunities that strengthen both body and community. Every COURSE VOLUNTEER plays a part in that impact. By giving a few hours of your time, you’re not just helping runners find their way or handing out water—you’re contributing to an event that helps give back to the community we all care about. To see which volunteer positions are still available, please visit the Door County Triathlon website at https://www.doorcountytriathlon.com/volunteer. The Friends of Peterson Park is an all-volunteer group dedicated to the preservation, sustainability and enhancement of the Peterson Park Gardens. The park committee will meet monthly except to plan and direct the group’s activities in cooperation with Parks staff. Interested individuals are welcome to attend these meetings as well. During the growing season, volunteers under the guidance of Park staff tend the Gardens, planting, weeding, pruning and updating the beds, shrubs and other features. They also work hard to help keep invasive plant species at bay. While some of the volunteers are Master Gardeners, anyone who enjoys the company of fellow gardeners and who is willing to perform these tasks following the Parks’ plan is welcome and encouraged to join the volunteers. Friends of Peterson Park Volunteers are needed to keep the Park looking clean and beautiful. These are just a few of the activities volunteers perform in the Park: * Weeding, mulching and beautifying plant beds, wild flower gardens, and front entrance * Removing invasive plants species * Cleaning restrooms and manage litter * Empty Trash & Dog Stations * Give Tours of Park and Garden to interested community members * Other projects as assigned by Staff / Lead Volunteers Working as a volunteer to clean up and beautifying a local park is a healthy way to sneak in some exercise, fresh air, and goodwill while also building lasting friendships.
